Celebrating Anniversaries: What Will You Look Back on at Your 50th Wedding Anniversary?

MY GRANDPARENTS

June 22nd, 1952

When my grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, they had one framed picture from their wedding day displayed. Back then, wedding photographers were typically hired for about an hour, and their primary job was to take pictures of family members at the altar with the bride and groom.

What flavor was the cake? What song played during their first dance? I don’t know those details. But I can tell you how elegant my grandmother looked that day and the loving smile my grandfather wore after marrying the love of his life.

I like to think my passion for photography comes from my grandpa. He loved reminiscing and reliving memories while flipping through old photo albums—and I listened to every story. Looking back, I realize my younger self was glancing at pages full of moments frozen in time.

I want to be the photographer who captures emotion throughout the wedding day. While I adore traditional portraits, it’s the genuine, heartfelt moments that I believe couples will cherish most when they celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
